Aquaculture Engineer, Master in Aquaculture and Master in Business Administration. Professional with more than 13 years of experience in R&D+I in aquaculture and environment, with particular interest on recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), environmental monitoring and pollution, ecotoxicology, salmon farming, physiology and fish welfare. He has participated in different institutions in Chile and Norway. Xavier has largely worked on how water quality can affect salmonid physiology in RAS. Likewise, he has worked on design and implementation of water treatment systems to improve fish welfare and productive performance.
As a Managing Director Norwegian Institute for Water Research in Chile (NIVA Chile), he undertakes planning strategies as well as leading R&D projects for aquaculture industry in Chile, considering also consolidated (salmonids) and new (endemic) aquaculture species.
